About: Hand washing with soap, along with masks and social distancing, is critical for safe school reopening. Public Health England is unequivocal: "proper hand washing is the most effective method and this should be your first choice."

School administrators are struggling to retrofit older buildings with plumbed sinks at critical locations, such as school entrances, in outdoor play areas, and inside classrooms. Hand sanitiser is convenient, but not as effective as hand washing with soap, particularly when hands are visibly dirty.
