About: Insect City UK is a small business owned and run by keen entomologist and invertebrate breeder, Hayleigh (who is also a mother to a 7-year-old). With a passion for bugs, outreach, and education (having completed both a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Forensic Science at the University of Derby herself) and after a stint as a Medical Teaching Support Technician at the University of Nottingham, the focus was on only one thing - Bugs!

Here at Insect City UK, we provide ethically bred, exotic invertebrates and insect-based workshops and outreach events to all education stages (from nursery to university). Our workshops can be tailored to your requirements and we are happy to engage and educate smaller same-year groups or larger mixed-year groups as we showcase a selection of our exotic inverts, some of which include Giant African Land Snails, Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, Giant millipedes, Pink Dragon Millipedes, Giant stick insects, leaf insects, leather leaf slugs (aka 'Glubby'), and Vampire Crabs!

We also offer our 'Rent an Invert' scheme which allows each class to rent an invert of their choice (up to a maximum of 8 inverts per classroom) for a period of 1 week to 8 weeks. Full set-up, care guides, fact sheets, specialist equipment, food provided, and an on-call specialist 24hrs.
