Listing Details

The Adventures of Compost is a heart-warming and inclusive children’s book series designed to help young readers explore friendship, confidence, and celebrating differences.

The stories follow Compost the Cat, a curious rescue cat who loves meeting new friends and discovering the world around him. Through his adventures, Compost gently encourages children to understand that everyone is unique and that kindness, empathy, and friendship can help us overcome worries and build confidence.

In Compost the Cat, readers are introduced to Compost as he meets new friends and learns that being different is something to celebrate. In Compost at the Zoo, Compost visits the zoo where he meets a variety of animals and discovers how every creature has its own special strengths and abilities.

Beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written, The Adventures of Compost supports conversations around inclusion, disability awareness, and emotional wellbeing, making it ideal for early years and primary school settings.

Alongside the books, Compost sensory toys are available. While not part of the story itself, these toys can help support concentration, focus, and sensory regulation, providing children with something tactile to engage with during reading time or classroom activities.

The books are also available in accessible formats including large print, Braille, and audio, ensuring every child can enjoy Compost’s adventures.

Perfect for school libraries, PSHE lessons, SEN settings, and inclusive classrooms, The Adventures of Compost encourages children to celebrate differences and reminds them that everyone belongs.

This book is just stunning. A gorgeous, empowering tale of friendship and inclusivity. Nicola has captured this topic so well in this playful and fun rhyming tale. The illustrations are beautiful, too! A must read! Faye Phillips
Testimonial 3
I love the story of Compost the Cat and Poppy. Although Poppy has 3 legs, this is not the focus of the story, which normalises physical differences for young children. Poppy is initially scared to do a couple of things that Compost can do, but their friendship gives her confidence. I also love that this book is made accessible for all children which adds to it's positive and inclusive ethos. Mrs S Farnham
