The school had a clear brief of how they wanted the dining room to be. Not institutional, flexible, fun, colourful, hard wearing and practical. Seatable UK working with the headteache and staff from the City council to achieve their brief within a tight budget. Colourful yellow “Discover chairs were used which were a great option for this primnary school as the chairs were exactly the right height for the children but taller chairs in exactly the same design and colour were available for teachers and older students. A “Boomerang” feature table was the centerepiece for the room with a different kind of stool to contrast the different colour boomerang tops. Flip top tables were used across half of the area so the room could be convereted quickly and easily for other activities. The use of Seatable “bubble” queue screens were also utilised to form a safe strong but funky system to allow the children to queue safely for their lunch. D-ended tables were also used to create a high street cafe feel at the other end of the dining room. Wilbraham Primary School

This was a very different job as this dining room started off as 3 separate rooms. During the summer holidays the school had the rooms knocked through to form 1 complete dining room. Because the dining facilities are also used by a special school, we had to ensure an area of tables were suitable for disabled access. We had various meetings with the school to go through different options and eventually decided on pedestal tables. These were ideal as they could accommodate chairs and wheelchairs and would not have any table legs causing any obstruction. They also blended in well with the rest of the dining room where installed smaller pedestal tables and our Hannah Lite units. We used our popular smile chair for seating in the 2 striking colours of green and purple. The school had the paintwork matched to these colours which really finished off the look of the room. The school were absolutely delighted with the installation and the area is now used for meetings as well as dining now. It has become a room where that the school are proud to show off.
